Export: Viewing Unicode with Excel

At this time SaaSAssure only supported the English language. If you use SaaSAssure for other languages some content when exported is unicode. SaaSAssure generally does capture this; however, when opening a CSV export file with an application such as Excel you will find that Excel has issues rendering unicode correctly.

In order to properly view unicode in an Excel spreadsheet follow these steps:

Excel for Windows:

  1. Under 'File' select 'New'
  2. On the 'Data' tab in the 'Get & Transform Data' section select 'From Text/CSV'
  3. In the Text Import Wizard:
    • Set 'File Origin' as 65001: Unicode (UTF-8)
    • Set 'Delimited' to be 'Comma'
    • Set 'Data Type Detection' to 'Based on entire dataset'
    • Click 'Load'

Excel for MAC:

  1. Under 'File' select 'Import'
  2. Select 'Text file' in the Import window and click import
  3. Select the file to import and click 'Get data'
  4. In the Text Import Wizard:
    • Select the 'Delimited' radio button
    • Under 'File origin' select 'Unicode (UTF-8)'
    • Click 'Next' to go to step 2 of the wizard
    • Select the 'Comma' checkbox
    • Click 'Next' to go to step 3 of the wizard
    • Select the 'General' radio button
    • Click 'Finish'

  5.  In the Import Data window select where to save the data
    • Click 'Import'
