Restore: If First Channel has a Custom Name

Microsoft assumes that the first channel created in any team is named “General.” However, the Teams APIs do not preserve the original name of a team’s first channel.

As a result, when restoring a team whose original first channel had a custom name, Microsoft does not recognize it as the initial channel and automatically creates a new “General” channel.

The original first channel is then restored as a subsequent channel, rather than as the team’s primary channel.
